About The Position

Under the direction of the Pain Medicine Supervisor, performs fluoroscopic procedures following departmental protocols, ALARA and service behavior standards. This role involves performing routine fluoroscopic procedures, tracking patient dosage, setting up the fluoroscopy room for physician-guided procedures, and safely positioning patients for maximum diagnostic yield. The technologist will operate complex radiographic equipment, select technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using ALARA standards, and maintain fluoroscopic equipment. They will also report malfunctions and necessary repairs to the supervisor, follow clinic exposure control plans, and may be asked to perform other duties as needed. Additionally, the role includes entering appropriate information into PACS and ensuring studies are ready for radiologist dictation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved radiological program.
  • Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists AART(R).
  • Current state permit/license as general diagnostic radiographer.
  • CPR Certification is required.

  • Experience in radiology imaging modalities is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine fluoroscopic procedures utilizing knowledge of radiation/imaging scientific principles, technical skills, and well-developed problem-solving capabilities.
  • Tracks patient dosage which is kept on hand for state inspections.
  • Helps to setup the flouro room for physician guided procedures.
  • Properly and safely positions the patient for maximum diagnostic yield.
  • Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the pain medicine department, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.L.A.R.A. (As low as reasonably achievable) standards.
  • Maintains fluoroscopic equipment and ensures that it is in proper working condition.
  • Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisor.
  • Follows the clinic exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
  • May be required by their manager/lead to perform other duties which may be necessary or desirable.
  • Enters appropriate information into PACS and makes sure the study is ready to be dictated before submitting to the radiologist.
