About The Position

Nucor Steel West Virginia LLC is seeking a Fluid Technician for its new state-of-the-art sheet steel mill. This role is crucial for assisting the team in achieving operational objectives for the Pickle Line Tandem Cold Mill (PLTCM) and Temper Mill by ensuring all operational fluid systems run within set parameters and managing fluid inventories. The position involves testing fluid chemistries, addressing deviations from process control limits, managing fluid inventories and testing/treatment, and performing basic maintenance on fluid systems. The role requires the ability to work rotating shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including nights, holidays, and weekends. Safety is paramount, and candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to upholding safety policies and standards.

Requirements

One year manufacturing experience
Ability to work rotating shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime including nights, holidays and weekends.
Demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Nice To Haves

Pickle Line experience
Experience with Inbound/Outbound Railcar/Truck
Knowledge of acid testing requirements
Ability to operate overhead crane & forklift
Understand how Pickle Line acid systems affects other areas of the division
Strong mechanical background
Ability to coordinate with vendors and plan future (weekly/ monthly) work

Responsibilities

Assist the team in achieving operational objectives for the Pickle Line Tandem Cold Mill (PLTCM) and Temper Mill.
Ensure all operational fluid systems run within their set parameters.
Manage the fluid inventories of the PLTCM and Temper Mill areas.
Test various chemistries for critical fluid systems on the Pickle Tandem Mill.
Address issues when chemistries deviate from process control limits.
Manage inventory of fluids and fluid testing/treatment.
Perform basic maintenance on the Pickle Tandem Line fluid systems.
Uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
