About The Position

The Fluid Technician Field Supervisor oversees the daily activities of Fluid Technician Leads and quickly resolves fluid system issues that arise during each hydraulic fracturing (HF) job.

Requirements

  • 4 years of Fluid Technician or Field Lab Technician experience is required
  • Maintaining a current driver’s license and a clean driving record is required
  • Must be familiar with the operation of hydraulic fracturing equipment (i.e., blender, hydration, C 10)
  • Basic ability to perform pH water analysis (iron, sulfate, and chloride testing), verify the amount of acid titration to be pumped for each job, distinguish between cationic and anionic based chemicals, and formulate liquid additives for pump calibration
  • Familiar with operation of Chandler or Grace viscometers, applying hydrometers, interpreting hydrometer readings, and applying thermometers
  • Basic understanding of sand variances in reference to sand sieve analysis while applying American Petroleum Institution (API) standards
  • Clear communication skills
  • Personable, can interact well with crew members, supervisors, vendors, and colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Possess strong math skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications and ability to learn other necessary computer programs
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of safe hand tool use
  • Reliable and able to work assigned schedule
  • Able to safely perform duties during a 12+ hour work shift that will include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and extreme weather conditions

Responsibilities

  • Perform sand sieve analysis to assess particle size distribution
  • Conduct bucket testing on liquid additive pumps to ensure accurate dosing
  • Verify and identify frac chemicals scheduled for pumping, ensuring alignment with job specifications
  • Review and confirm correct bulk chemical containers are present and properly labeled at the job site
  • Collect chemical strap data at the conclusion of each stage and submit usage amounts to the field engineer
  • Coordinate chemical reordering to maintain sufficient inventory levels throughout operations
  • Demonstrate comprehensive expertise in all fluid systems utilized
  • Identify and communicate industry changes
  • Act as supervisory direct report for assigned personnel (i.e., performance management, corrective action, training, defining daily priorities, etc.)
  • Manage time and attendance for assigned personnel including timecard approval or paid time off
  • Maintain and enforce compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies
  • Other duties as assigned
