About The Position

TScan is seeking a research professional with demonstrated expertise in flow cytometry and instrumentation to join our team as Flow Cytometry Technician, to coordinate the usage and maintenance of TScan’s Flow Cytometry Core Lab. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of a flow core lab, and enjoy fast-paced, collaborative, and vibrant culture. Requirements

  • MS/BS degree and 3-5+ years in biotechnology industry or academic instrument core facilities
  • Experience maintaining flow cytometry instruments
  • Experience with multi-color flow cytometry applications for both analysis and sorting
  • Experience with flow cytometry immunological applications
  • Experience with registering and scheduling instrument users
  • Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to document experiments in a timely fashion and present scientific data
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated quality, proficiency, and attention-to-detail

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the operation and maintenance of multiple flow cytometry analyzers and cell sorters within a shared core facility, including preparing instruments for daily use, managing instrument scheduling, performing and documenting quality control (QC) procedures, and troubleshooting technical issues related to flow cytometry and cell separation systems.
  • Lead vendor interactions related to instrument maintenance, including coordinating service visits, tracking service histories, managing service contracts, and assisting with performance qualification following repairs or upgrades.
  • Maintain inventory of consumables (e.g., sheath fluid, filters, tubes, QC beads), restock supplies as needed, and oversee maintenance and quality control of the shared cell bank.
  • Provide hands-on training to new and existing users on proper instrument operation, sorter workflows, and experimental best practices; educate users on troubleshooting common issues and optimizing data quality.
  • Assist researchers across departments with flow cytometry-related experimental design, including panel design, fluorophore selection, compensation strategy, controls, and data quality considerations.
