About The Position

The Floral Manager is responsible for leading the efficient, effective, safe, legal, and profitable operations of the Floral Department. This role is focused on guest relations and satisfaction, building a reputation for Ultimate Service. The manager coordinates human relations for the department, ensures execution of all company and department policies and procedures, and develops team members. Key responsibilities include hiring, training, performance management, communication, maintaining a positive atmosphere, and achieving financial goals. The role also involves ensuring product quality and availability, safeguarding department assets, practicing safe work habits, and overseeing inventory and ordering processes.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in floral retail.
  • Ability to work and communicate with all levels of management and subordinates in a professional manner.
  • Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve and work with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of plants and flowers.
  • Able to work in varied temperatures.
  • Independent mobility within the department - standing and walking for 8-10 hours, squatting and climbing.
  • Be able to perform all other physical aspects of the position including but not limited to bending, squatting, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and walking.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 lbs. and push and pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Must possess technical skills to perform basic math and computer tasks (Word, Excel, and Email).
  • Ability to work at fast-paced, but efficient and controlled manner.
  • Ability to function as a team member and get along with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Must attend meetings, including out-of-town, requiring overnight stays.
  • Must be able to transfer to another store within the area.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge, greet, and engage guests entering the area or department.
  • Hiring, training, and performance management of team members.
  • Communication and information distribution to the entire department.
  • Maintaining a positive atmosphere, spirit, and morale within the department.
  • Demonstrating effective leadership skills by managing time and delegation.
  • Developing team members and future leaders utilizing available materials and systems.
  • Supporting and executing division concepts and programs.
  • Executing and meeting financial goals.
  • Identifying areas of opportunity throughout the store and within the department.
  • Ensuring quality and consistent product availability and solutions to guests.
  • Safeguarding, controlling, and monitoring all department assets, ensuring policies and procedures are implemented for control of assets.
  • Practicing safe work habits; maintaining a high level of store cleanliness, organization, and a safe work environment; encouraging team members to do the same.
  • Overseeing that department systems and processes are utilized consistently and correctly.
  • Directing meetings with the department leadership team to effectively plan production and promotion goals.
  • Verifying team member schedules against business needs.
  • Coaching and disciplining team members as necessary in accordance with policy and procedures with support from Talent Management.
  • Verifying all books and manuals are kept updated.
  • Overseeing inventory process and reporting.
  • Approving all purchase orders and maintaining adequate levels.
  • Ordering and adjusting standing orders for flowers, plants, and related merchandise and supplies.
  • Assisting and leading designers and sales clerks in completing their tasks.
  • Demonstrating good conflict management skills.
  • Performing other duties assigned by upper management.
