About The Position
This position involves providing friendly and courteous service to customers in a floral department. Key responsibilities include receiving and processing merchandise, arranging and displaying plants and flowers, making floral arrangements like bows, corsages, and boutonnieres, and packaging fresh flowers. The role also requires watering and attending to plants, knowing the names and care of various flowers and plants, and managing dated products. Additionally, the floral clerk will handle customer service via phone, take orders for pickup and delivery, and process transactions using a cash terminal. Other duties may include inflating balloons with helium, ordering through F.T.D., and unloading and displaying seasonal bedding plants. Training will be provided at the store level.
Requirements
- 18 years or older to apply
- Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Working on feet entire shift (4-8 hours)
- Minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred (Internal Candidates)
- Minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred (Store Support Center Teammates)
- Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline) (Internal Candidates)
- If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance (Internal Candidates)
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
- Receive and process merchandise
- Display plants and flowers, using proper signs
- Water, and attend to flowers and plants
- Be knowledgeable on names, and proper care of flowers and plants
- Make bows, corsages, and boutonnieres
- Arrange fresh flowers
- Package and wrap fresh flowers
- Pull dated product
- Follow company safety and sanitation procedures by cleaning shelves, floor and work areas
- Proper use of helium tanks to inflate balloons
- Provide customer service on phones
- Take orders, and prepare for pickup and delivery
- Know proper procedure for ordering F.T.D.
- Operate a cash terminal, knowing proper procedure to receive cash, checks and credit cards
- Unload bedding plants, place on racks outside store (seasonal)
- Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management
