About The Position

The Flooring Sales Specialist is responsible for selling flooring products, construction materials, and related services to existing and prospective customers, including contractors and consumers. This position builds strong customer relationships, assists customers in selecting flooring products that meet their needs, and guides them through their projects from product selection through completion.

Requirements

  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Desire to learn, develop product knowledge, and grow professionally.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry; flooring product knowledge preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to operate a computer and calculator.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Ability to respond quickly to problems and handle them accurately and professionally.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality with a strong customer-service focus.
  • Positive and energetic attitude.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answer customers’ questions and provide guidance to help them successfully complete their projects.
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of company products, procedures, culture, and philosophy.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by listening to customers’ needs, educating them on available products, preparing quotes, and completing sales.
  • Assist customers in selecting flooring products, coordinating special orders, and providing product recommendations based on their project needs.
  • Evaluate competitive situations and determine appropriate actions to gain additional business.
  • Understand profit margins and maintain profitability while working to increase sales.
  • Attend training sessions to maintain current knowledge of products and services offered.
  • Effectively handle customer complaints and warranty issues.
  • Assist customers with loading purchased materials and products.
  • Order non-stock items, including windows and doors, based on customer needs.
  • Order stock items for assigned sections of the store.
  • Stock and put away merchandise as needed.
  • Assist with counting and maintaining store inventory.
  • Unload incoming trucks as needed.
  • Communicate with contractors regarding upcoming projects and identify opportunities to provide products and services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
