About The Position

We are seeking a Flooring Category Manager to oversee all hard and soft surface flooring lines (LVP, tile, carpet, and pad) within our ERP system. This role requires a blend of vendor negotiation, data integrity, and operational execution. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong sense of ownership over the flooring category's financial performance, possess deep technical knowledge of flooring materials and their specifications, and exhibit the tenacity to hold manufacturers accountable and negotiate favorable terms. A meticulous approach to inventory management, focusing on minimizing aging stock, special orders, and product defects, is crucial.

Requirements

  • Category stewardship with a mindset of ownership over financial performance.
  • Deep, specialized knowledge of flooring materials, unit-of-measure conversions (cartons, square footage, square yards), subfloor requirements, and installation nuances.
  • Tenacity to hold manufacturers accountable and negotiate aggressively.
  • Obsessive focus on inventory management, including the 'Aging Clock', special orders, dye lots, and carton integrity.
  • Ability to act as a 'Strategic Stakeholder' ensuring the right product roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the flooring category's financial performance, treating inventory as a personal investment.
  • Serve as the final authority on product specifications and vendor capabilities, demonstrating deep knowledge of flooring materials, unit-of-measure conversions, subfloor requirements, and installation nuances.
  • Hold manufacturers accountable and negotiate aggressively for the best freight and material terms for Drexel.
  • Maintain vigilant inventory management, focusing on the 'Aging Clock' and eliminating issues like abandoned special orders, mismatched dye lots, or broken cartons.
  • Own the Flooring Category from its inception to its completion within the ERP system.
  • Ensure the team has the right product roadmap to align what is promised to builders with what is purchased, delivered, and installed.
