About The Position

Mary's Woods is seeking a highly skilled Flooring & Finish Carpenter to lead installation projects on their Renovations team. This role combines expert-level craftsmanship with leadership responsibility, ensuring all work meets high-quality standards, stays on schedule, and adheres to safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have a background in construction and remodeling, including hands-on experience in tile backsplashes, wall patch, mud & texture, plumbing, and painting. You will be contributing to creating a beautiful community for residents and their guests to enjoy. You must be able to relate positively and favorably to staff, residents, and families, and enjoy working on a team. Mary's Woods is a non-profit senior living community founded in 2001, offering independent living, assisted living, memory care, and residential care in a park-like setting on 40 acres in Lake Oswego. Requirements

  • Minimum ten (10) years of professional experience in flooring and finish carpentry.
  • Proven expertise in installing multiple flooring types and trim systems.
  • Strong leadership or mentorship experience (formal or informal).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools (saws, nail guns, moisture meters, levels, etc.).
  • Expert understanding of subfloor prep, leveling compounds, and adhesives.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience in tile backsplashes, wall patch, mud & texture, plumbing and painting.

Responsibilities

  • Install a wide range of flooring materials including carpet, LVP, LVT, vinyl, and tile with precision and efficiency.
  • Measure, cut, and install baseboards, shoe molding, quarter round, door casings, and other finish trim.
  • Install tile backsplashes.
  • Patch, mud and texture sheetrock repairs.
  • Interpret blueprints, layouts, and project specifications to plan and execute installations.
  • Oversee and train a demo employee, providing hands-on instruction and performance feedback.
  • Ensure job sites are properly prepped, including demolition, subfloor inspection, leveling, and moisture mitigation.
  • Maintain high standards for fit, finish, and detail across all installations.
  • Monitor project timelines and communicate progress, delays, or issues to supervisors or clients.
  • Enforce safety standards and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work vehicles in good condition.
  • Coordinate material needs and verify deliveries against project requirements.
  • Provides daily leadership, direction, and oversight to Renovation staff while working alongside the team.
  • Acts as the primary on-site resource for troubleshooting, decision-making, and escalation of complex issues.
