About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture within assigned areas. The Floor Tech will follow established housekeeping procedures, utilize various cleaning equipment, and perform routine and specialized cleaning tasks. The position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Availability for evening and occasional weekend work is necessary.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of departmental inter-relationships concerned with the restorative programs and achievement of the Tenants and Customers highest level of functioning.
  • Ability to use housekeeping equipment such as mops, buffers, automatic scrubbers, squeegees and vacuums.
  • Ability to dry mop, wet mop, disinfect, wax, and buff floors.
  • Ability to vacuum and shampoo carpeting and rugs.
  • Ability to dust blinds, furniture, woodwork, and flat surfaces.
  • Ability to strip, scrub and re-wax floors.
  • Ability to clean and sanitize restroom areas, restock supplies and disinfect surfaces.
  • Ability to wash windows and clean blinds.
  • Ability to keep janitor closets and equipment clean and in good order.
  • Ability to observe basic rules of personal cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Must wear a clean uniform when on duty.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with floor maintenance equipment.
  • Experience in commercial cleaning.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their safe use.

Responsibilities

  • Follow cleaning schedule as outlined for assigned areas, using established housekeeping procedures.
  • Use housekeeping equipment such as mops, buffers, automatic scrubbers, squeegees and vacuums required for the maintenance of floors, walls, carpets and furniture.
  • Dry mop, wet mop, all floors in your assigned area daily. Disinfect, wax, and buff floors where and when necessary. Corners and underneath desks and furniture shall be given special attention.
  • Perform emergency housekeeping where accidents occur.
  • Empty, clean and reline waste receptacles. Straighten or rearrange furniture as directed. Inspect equipment for wear and defects and report to Supervisor.
  • Clean stairwells, entrances and exits at least weekly.
  • Perform some exterior work such as removing litter.
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpeting and rugs when requested.
  • Perform cleaning duties in office building careful as to not interfere with tenant daily duties.
  • Dust blinds furniture woodwork, flat surfaces in the building.
  • Strip, scrub and re-wax floors when requested by your Supervisor.
  • Clean and sanitize restroom areas, restock supplies and disinfect surfaces.
  • Ensure cleaning equipment, utensils and electric cords are kept out of the path of travel. Disconnect electrical equipment whenever it is unattended. Wet areas shall be closed off to traffic until thoroughly dry. Exercise extreme care to avoid conditions that could cause accidental injury to anyone in your work area immediately.
  • Wash windows and clean blinds.
  • Keep janitor closets and equipment clean and in good order; economical use of supplies. Keep poisonous compounds locked. Report supply and equipment needs to Supervisor. Keep hose in janitor sink tied up at all times.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Wear a clean uniform when on duty. Observe basic rules of personal cleanliness and hygiene. Do not report for duty when you have an infectious illness.
