About The Position

To supervise and assist Janitors I and Janitors II in performing all manners of floor maintenance and janitorial tasks. This role involves direct supervision of Janitors I and Janitors II, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, reviewing employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • A clear understanding of janitorial procedures, processes, and terms.
  • Proficiency in all Janitor I and II essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Two years’ experience in all phases of janitorial work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervision.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently with little direct supervision as well as have the ability to work cooperatively as a team member.
  • Must be able to follow through with projects in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to warehouse operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, general business instructions, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with daily operational challenges with a calming demeanor.
  • Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill's liability insurance provider.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and assist Janitors I and Janitors II in performing all manners of floor maintenance and janitorial tasks.
  • Ensure all restrooms, janitor closets, offices, and break rooms meet quality standards.
  • Transport employees and janitorial supplies/equipment using company vehicles.
  • Monitor inventory control system and update as necessary.
  • Train employees in safety standards, including new employee orientation, huddles, and ongoing hazard communication.
  • Communicate effectively with supervision.
  • Comply with all Agency policies, procedures, and safety standards, and maintain them to meet CARF, HIPAA, Department of Labor, and other regulatory standards.
  • Interview, train, plan, assign, direct work, appraise performance, review employees, address complaints, and resolve problems for Janitors I and Janitors II.
