About The Position

The Floor Tech I helps keep the Davis & McDaniel Vet Care Ctr safe, clean, and welcoming through high-quality floor care, routine specialized cleaning, and maintaining a well-stocked, orderly environment. Duties include caring for floors and carpets, performing routine sanitation, replenishing supplies, cleaning bodily fluids and waste safely, and completing detail-cleaning tasks. The role also involves cleaning and storing equipment, reporting maintenance issues to supervisors, and tracking completed tasks to meet productivity standards. Other mission-related duties may be assigned, including potential emergency assistance for state or agency needs if declared by the Governor.

Requirements

• Some knowledge in the use of cleaning devices such as brooms, mops, buffers, and other cleaning equipment.
• Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the United States.
• The selected candidate, excluding current DVS employees, must pass a criminal background check; pre-employment drug screening and two TB Skin Tests are required.

Responsibilities

• Strip, refinish, burnish, and buff floors; shampoo carpets and upholstery.
• Perform daily cleaning, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and waste removal.
• Replenish essential supplies such as soap and paper products.
• Safely clean up bodily fluids and waste.
• Wash walls, glass, and ceiling vents; use 6-foot ladders and basic hand tools to change window drapes and curtains.
• Clean and store equipment properly after use.
• Report maintenance issues to supervisors.
• Track completed tasks to ensure productivity standards are met.
• Complete other mission-related duties as assigned, including potential emergency assistance for state or agency needs if declared by the Governor.
