About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Floor Tech/Housekeeper responsible for all types of floor care, including carpet cleaning, stripping, sealing, refinishing, replacing, and scrubbing. The role also involves general housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident rooms and bathrooms, changing linens, making beds, emptying trash, and maintaining the cleanliness of hallways and common spaces. The position requires adherence to safety practices, OSHA guidelines, and infection control policies. The employee will report maintenance defects to their supervisor and manage housekeeping supply levels.

Requirements

  • Grammar school education required; high school or its equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write and comprehend English.
  • One year floor tech experience.
  • Knowledge of procedures and techniques necessary to provide floor care and other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to understand and follow basic written and oral step-by-step instructions.
  • Ability to move maintenance equipment as needed, using up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
  • Ability to turn, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, handle, stand, and walk over 75% of shift.

Responsibilities

  • Using approved equipment, responsible for all types of floor care, including carpet cleaning, stripping, sealing, refinishing, replacing, and scrubbing.
  • Reporting all maintenance defects to supervisor or Director of Environmental Services.
  • Using equipment and supplies as directed and following all instructions on Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Assisting the team in clean up and disposal as needed and required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or required by management or special projects.
  • Adhering to Morningside core anchors.
  • Cleaning resident rooms including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sweeping.
  • Cleaning resident and public bathrooms.
  • Changing linens and making beds in assigned rooms.
  • Emptying trash in resident rooms and public areas.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of hallways and common spaces.
  • Monitoring housekeeping supply levels and notifying supervisor when supplies are needed.
  • Following safety practices according to OSHA guidelines.
  • Complying with attendance and tardiness standards.
  • Complying with all safety procedures and following universal precautions and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Using proper body mechanics.
  • Understanding OSHA’s Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), where this information is located and what action needs to be taken when an accident occurs with chemicals.
