About The Position

The Floor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing production activities in the Mills department, specifically focusing on 4th & 5th Axis, Lathe, Wire, and Swiss machinery. This role involves conferring with management to establish production and quality control standards, developing budgets and cost controls, and planning production activities to ensure efficient operations and cost-effectiveness. The supervisor coordinates with procurement, maintenance, and quality control to optimize resource utilization and analyzes production reports to identify and resolve issues. They also develop and implement improved operating methods, revise schedules as needed, and consult with engineering on equipment modifications. Additionally, the supervisor handles grievances and may be required to operate CNC machines when necessary.

Requirements

Equivalent to high school education or related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Frequently required to stand and walk.
Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.

Responsibilities

Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and costs factors.
Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specification, and operating or production problems.
Develops and implements operating methods and procedure designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
Conducts hearings to resolve or effect settlement of grievances and refers unresolved grievances for management union negotiations.
Complies, stores, and retrieves production data.
Set-Ups, Runs/operates, and/or Programs CNC Machines when need be.
