About The Position

Join UPMC Montefiore's Environmental Services team as a Project and Floor Technician, helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This night-shift position preserves the appearance and longevity of hospital flooring through specialized floor-care techniques, including stripping and refinishing hard-surface floors, buffing, and shampooing carpeted areas. The role requires high-quality workmanship, hands-on work, and a commitment to supporting excellence in patient care.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED, or one year of previous job experience in lieu of a diploma/GED, or successful completion of the five-week EVS training program.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to successfully complete housekeeping duties.
• Ability to use all housekeeping equipment.
• Act 34 clearance.
• May be in rooms where medications are stored while performing duties; no contact with medications is allowed.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize after emergency spill clean-up requests.
• Inspect assigned areas to ensure they are properly cleaned and in good repair, and report problems to the supervisor.
• Shampoo assigned carpeted areas.
• Maintain assigned equipment by keeping it clean and in good repair; report problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
• Comply with all hospital and department policies and procedures.
• Follow safety and sanitation regulations and report problems to the shift supervisor.
• Remove soil, wax, and sealer from assigned hard-surface floors.
• Use chemicals and solutions according to the department Tech Manual.
