About The Position

Ensures product is promptly removed from all floor areas, keeping floor and drains clear of condemned product according to USDA, OSHA and company requirements. Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and supporting team concepts, programs, and policies. Familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems and understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity and support these systems. Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Requirements

  • working knowledge of a processing facility.
  • Occasional stair and ladder climbing, pushing/pulling, frequent twisting of the neck and waist, kneeling, simple grasping, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds.
  • Constant walking and standing, bending at the neck and waist, squatting, fine manipulation/feeling with the hands, reaching below shoulder level, repetitive motion of the shoulders, arms and hands, use of vision.
  • Be able to efficiently work in a plant environment.
  • Std waterproof gloves, sleeves, hearing protection.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for locating and promptly removing condemned products that are located near major walkways, drains and standing water.
  • Deliver product to condemned container.
  • May be required to clean floors using a hand held water broom.
  • May be required to monitor and maintain the free flow of all drains in the production area.
  • Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
  • Actively looks for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
