About The Position

The Floor Maintenance Assistant performs skilled work in the care and upkeep of various floor surfaces. Responsibilities include buffing, stripping, waxing, and cleaning floors, as well as maintaining wood, tile, terrazzo, and carpeted surfaces. The employee may also serve as a lead worker in floor maintenance tasks, ensuring proper techniques and procedures are followed. This position requires knowledge of floor finishing methods and the correct use of chemical agents. Additional duties include carpet cleaning and assisting with general housekeeping tasks. Work is performed under close supervision and is reviewed for both quality and efficiency. The working hours for the Floor Maintenance Assistant position are from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with rotating weekends as assigned. Requirements

  • Education and/or experience in floor maintenance work that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade equivalent to one year of experience in a commercial or institutional setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of floor care, cleaning and finishing techniques.
  • Skill in the use and care of floor maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to follow procedural directions in the use of cleaning products.
  • High School Diploma or GED and a Valid North Carolina Driver's License
