About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining the appearance and integrity of the hotel's floors and furniture. The Floor & Furniture Technician will perform various cleaning, maintenance, and repair tasks to ensure a polished and professional environment. The position requires adherence to safety protocols, proper use of equipment and chemicals, and the ability to assist with general facility maintenance. Experience in hotel environments is preferred, and the candidate should possess a self-starting personality, maintain a professional demeanor, and be able to communicate effectively with guests and colleagues. The role involves physical demands such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, with the capacity to lift up to 100 lbs.

  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions from supervisor.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.

Responsibilities

  • Strip, wax, seal, and burnish hard floors (e.g., VCT, tile, concrete).
  • Vacuum, spot clean, shampoo, and perform hot-water extraction on carpets and upholstery.
  • Safely operate, clean, and perform routine preventative maintenance on industrial floor care equipment like buffers, auto-scrubbers, burnishes, and extractors.
  • Strictly adhere to safety protocols, use wet-floor hazard signs, and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working with heavy chemicals.
  • Mix chemicals properly, handle chemical dispensing units, and alert supervisors to supply shortages.
  • Assist with heavy trash removal, moving furniture before and after cleaning, and addressing general facility maintenance requests.
  • Perform structural repair, surface refinishing, and upholstery restitching on furniture.
  • Perform burn-ins, sand, stain, and mix custom colors to match wood grains and hide scratches, dents, or splits.
