About The Position

Fairview is hiring a Floor Care Specialist for its Environmental Services team at Fairview Northland Medical Center in Princeton, Minnesota. The position helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming facility for patients, visitors, and staff by providing specialized care for hard-surface and carpeted floors. Work includes stripping, waxing, buffing, polishing, cleaning, refinishing, and maintaining floors; operating and caring for floor-care equipment; and following established cleaning, infection-prevention, and safety protocols. The role is 0.8 FTE (64 hours per two-week pay period), benefit-eligible, and scheduled Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and cooperatively with others.

Requirements

Experience with general office computer programs and email.

Nice To Haves

One year of floor-care experience.
Previous experience with floor-care equipment and floor waxing.
Previous commercial or healthcare cleaning experience.

Responsibilities

Clean, refinish, and maintain floors throughout the facility, including hard-surface and carpeted floors.
Use appropriate techniques to clean and refinish hard-surface floors and extract carpeted floors.
Apply appropriate seal and finish to floors.
Perform assignments according to department procedures, protocols, and assigned-area requirements.
Use proper chemical dilution ratios and follow infection-control practices and procedures.
Complete assignments in a timely manner and properly document work assignments.
Handle soiled and clean linens appropriately in assigned areas.
Handle and dispose of waste properly.
Use safe work practices, including floor signs, gloves, hazard signs, and symbols.
Use caution signs and control traffic appropriately.
Move furniture as needed.
Remain flexible and adapt to changes in assignments.
Contribute process-improvement ideas and suggestions.
Work cooperatively and courteously with others to accomplish results.
Demonstrate proper use and care of equipment, perform preventive-maintenance actions, and report malfunctioning equipment.
Use safety precautions and demonstrate appropriate emergency and security responses.
Take immediate action as required to assist with emergency codes.
Unlock and secure building access as directed.
Respond to and properly handle chemical spills.
Report mechanical failures or negative conditions to the appropriate person.
