About The Position

The CoVE Floating Teacher, under the direction of the Director of Instructional Programs-CoVE or the Supervisor of Special Education-CoVE, is responsible for covering teacher absences and scheduled leave, and providing support for classroom teams. The CoVE Floating Teacher will exhibit a high degree of collaboration with all team members and will be a self-starter initiating ways to support teachers, students, and staff in the CoVE program.

Requirements

  • Instructional I Special Education PK-8 or PK-12 certification
  • Previous experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis programming
  • Successful completion and renewal of emergency prevention and intervention strategies
  • Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements
  • Successful completion of all required PA Department of Education training required
  • High proficiency of technology, Microsoft Office Products, and internet applications required
  • Ability to work efficiently with a service-oriented attitude with frequent interruptions
  • Demonstrates strong relationship and networking skills
  • Demonstrates strong leadership abilities and organizational skills
  • Effectively manages multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines
  • Problem solves in a positive manner to analyze issues and create action plans
  • Demonstrates flexibility, receptiveness to change, tactfulness, patience, and professionalism

Responsibilities

  • Serves as substitute teacher during teacher absences assuming responsibility for the class, performing all tasks of the absent teacher
  • Employs special education strategies and techniques during instruction, while adhering to the IEP, to increase student achievement
  • Teaches socially acceptable behavior, as determined by the student’s IEP and behavior plan, by employing techniques of Applied Behavior Analysis
  • Utilizes and adheres to data collection systems developed by the teacher and behavior consultant
  • Works with small groups to support/enhance student learning in certified area of expertise
  • Assists with administering weekly, state, or local assessments (i.e. DRA, Spelling Inventory, Acadience, PSSA, PASA etc.)
  • Maintains accurate and complete student records (attendance, special education paperwork, etc.) and prepares reports, as required by law, organization policies, and administrative regulations during the teacher’s absence
  • Collaborates with instructional staff, district personnel, and parents to improve the quality of student outcomes and achieve established classroom objectives, as appropriate
  • Follows all expectations for professional behavior/dress as required in a public school setting
  • Completes other duties as assigned
