POSITION SUMMARY: The Floating Medical Assistant / Patient Services Representative (PSR) provides both clinical and front office support to physicians and patients across multiple podiatry clinics. This role assists with patient care, administrative functions, and daily clinic operations while ensuring an exceptional patient experience and efficient patient flow. This team member will be cross-trained and scheduled based on clinic needs, providing support to high-volume clinics when additional coverage is needed or assisting clinics during call-offs. This position requires flexibility to travel daily between Oak Brook, Naperville, Elgin, and Schaumburg clinic locations based on physician schedules and business needs, with occasional travel to other clinics within the assigned region as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient or ambulatory setting required.
  • Customer service experience required.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and positive relationships with patients, providers, and team members.
  • Ability to respond appropriately during medical emergencies.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel between assigned clinic locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a podiatry, orthopedic, surgical, or multispecialty practice preferred.
  • Experience with insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorizations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by escorting them to exam rooms and obtaining medical histories.
  • Measure and record vital signs and perform ancillary tests within scope of practice.
  • Assist physicians during examinations, treatments, in-office procedures, and wound care.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and adequate supplies.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments in accordance with infection control standards.
  • Accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, and post-procedure instructions as directed by the provider.
  • Coordinate patient care and communicate effectively with providers and clinical staff.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Respond appropriately to urgent patient situations and emergencies.
  • Welcome patients and visitors in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and assist with patient inquiries.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
  • Verify insurance coverage and collect patient demographic information.
  • Process patient check-in and check-out.
  • Collect copayments and assist patients with required forms.
  • Obtain referrals and prior authorizations as needed.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Provide front desk coverage as needed to ensure seamless clinic operations.
