About The Position

This role involves showing and leasing apartments to prospective residents. The Floating Leasing Professional will communicate with prospective and current residents, develop and maintain resident relations, learn professional sales techniques, and assist in various administrative tasks. The position also requires adherence to fair housing laws and participation in staff and management meetings.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to generate reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as copier, fax, computer, typewriter, calculator and telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Shows and leases apartments to prospective residents.
  • Communicates with prospective residents requiring information and current residents with complaints or problems.
  • Develops and maintains resident relations through courtesy, prompt maintenance, newsletters, and knowledge of community policies.
  • Learns to develop professional sales techniques.
  • Accompanies prospects to model apartments and discusses features and terms of the lease.
  • Makes follow-up calls to prospective residents.
  • Completes lease forms and collects rental deposits.
  • Inspects the condition of models daily and arranges for necessary maintenance.
  • Compiles and updates listings of available rental units.
  • Assists with the composition of newspaper advertisements.
  • Contacts credit bureaus, previous landlords, and employment history of prospective residents.
  • Substitutes for the Assistant Manager when absent.
  • Adheres to all fair housing laws.
  • Attends regular staff meetings, weekly management meetings, and weekly department meetings.
  • Updates work order agendas weekly.
  • Continuously grows and improves through training and development.
  • Completes and submits weekly activity reports, weekly traffic and leasing reports, and weekly off-site marketing reports in a timely and accurate manner.
