About The Position

New York Preschool & Kids Club is a premier early childhood education and enrichment program serving modern New York families through our combination of enrichment classes and preschool education. With multiple schools across New York City, NYPKC blends a research-backed, play-based curriculum with a fun and supportive environment, delivering a full family experience for children and parents. We are seeking a Floating Lead Preschool Teacher to join our mission of providing New York City’s 2-5-year-olds with a foundation for lifelong learning. In this role, you are the ultimate multi-hyphenate. One hour, you might be spotting a budding gymnast on the bars, the next you’re stepping in or supporting a lead teacher in one of our “Tools of the Mind” private preschool classrooms. You are the glue that holds our community together and the spark that makes our enrichment programs legendary and preschool classes an incredible foundation for lifelong learning!

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in ECE or a related field (or currently enrolled in a program)
  • A NYS Early Childhood Initial or Permanent Certification (B-2 or 1-6) OR be on an NYS-approved Study Plan (be studying toward a BA or MA with at least 90 ECE credits or an Associate’s degree in ECE).
  • 2+ years of lead teaching experience in Pre-K (2-4 year olds) or Kindergarten.
  • Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Assist a variety of classes for children ages 2 to 6 years, using a variety of curricula to teach everything from preschool to art and stem classes.
  • Help children build confidence, coordination, and social skills through activities and structured play, ensuring a “safe to fail” environment where children feel secure enough to take risks and explore their world.
  • Support with transitions, classroom organization, and daily operations.
  • Build trust with parents and caregivers through daily updates, sharing the successes and challenges of their child’s day, and building a bridge between school and home.
  • Ensuring a safe, joyful, and engaging classroom environment where every child thrives.
  • Seamlessly adapting to support different classes based on evolving program needs.
  • Anticipating classroom requirements and preparing resources well in advance of instruction.
  • Executing smooth, efficient hand-offs between classes and activities to maximize learning time.
  • Cultivating trust-based relationships with students, families, and the internal team.
  • Maintaining 100% compliance with all study plans and certification requirements.
