About The Position

The Floater Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist with preparing and dispensing prescribed medications in a clinical environment and supports patient care and education. This position covers both Avita pharmacies at CrescentCare Health Clinics in New Orleans, primarily working at Avita 1037 at 2519 Canal Street and providing coverage at Avita 1039 at 1631 Elysian Fields. The role has a stable schedule with no weekend or holiday shifts required and offers a $1,000 signing bonus. The position is safety-sensitive because it involves patient care, medication handling, access to controlled substances, and other regulated healthcare functions. Employment is subject to Avita's Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy and applicable legal requirements. Pharmacy hours are Monday and Thursday, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM; Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:30 AM–6:30 PM; and Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One or more years of related Pharmacy Technician experience.
Currently registered with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy (BOP).
State-certified as a Pharmacy Technician.
Proficient in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong MS Office computer skills and ability to type 30 or more words per minute.
Willingness to work at both Avita pharmacy locations in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Positive attitude, energetic and flexible approach, excellent phone etiquette, and ability to provide exceptional customer service.

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree or higher, especially in a related health field.
National Pharmacy Technician certification through an accredited certification program.
Bilingual fluency in Spanish.
Experience with pharmacy software such as PioneerRx or QSI.
Familiarity with electronic medical/health records (EMR/EHR) such as EPIC, NextGen, or CERNER.

Responsibilities

Remove drugs from stock; count, pour, or mix pharmaceuticals.
Place products into designated containers, affix labels, and package or repackage products as needed.
Verify and re-verify insurance benefits.
Interact courteously with patients and team members to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships.
Answer incoming calls and make outbound calls to patients, case managers, providers, insurance companies, and others.
Write routine reports and correspondence clearly.
Handle Point of Service (POS) payment transactions and reconcile beginning- and end-of-day transactions.
Coordinate prescription deliveries.
Proactively identify and analyze problems and provide effective solutions.
Perform responsibilities in the spirit of the company’s core values and goals.
Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
Provide coverage at both Avita pharmacy locations in New Orleans.
