About The Position

That's WEIS! This position is a part-time floater pharmacist role. The pharmacist will work with the pharmacy manager on controlling inventories, ordering stock, and ensuring customer demand is met to maximize profits. They will also weigh, measure, mix drugs, and fill prescriptions accurately. The role involves advising self-medicating patients and dispensing non-prescription medications. Maintaining open communication with health and insurance professionals and performing patient immunizations are key responsibilities. In the absence of the Pharmacy Manager, the floater pharmacist may be responsible for scheduling pharmacy associates, rewarding performance, disciplining associates, and assigning work to meet company profit objectives. They will also assist the manager with training and development of department personnel to improve performance, ensure continuous development, reduce turnover, and control labor costs. The role includes helping to control department expenses by monitoring operations, meeting labor goals, and reducing losses. The pharmacist will respond to customer complaints and questions courteously, provide counseling on prescription-related issues, identify areas for customer service improvement, and collaborate with the pharmacy manager to address deficiencies. Maintaining a safe, clean department according to company, health department, and OSHA standards, as well as maintaining appropriate department records and submitting required pharmacy reports are also essential. Cooperation with co-workers and superiors is expected to ensure the smooth function of the department and store, with a focus on continuous improvement of job performance. The floater pharmacist will also perform duties of staff as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or Pharm D
  • State Pharmacist License

Responsibilities

  • Works with the pharmacy manager on controlling inventories by helping track weekly sales
  • May order various pharmaceutical stock in order to meet customer demand and maximize profits
  • Weighs, measures, mixes drugs and other medical compounds and fills bottles with correct quantity and compositions
  • May give advice to self-medicating patients
  • Dispenses non-prescription medications
  • Maintains open communication with various health and insurance professionals
  • Perform patient immunizations on a regular basis
  • In the absence of the Pharmacy Manager may have to schedule pharmacy associates, reward and recognize performance, discipline associates as required, and give out work assignments to effectively utilize skills and abilities while meeting company profit objectives
  • Assists manager with the ongoing training and development of department personnel in an effort to improve performance, ensure continuous development, reduce turnover and control labor costs
  • Helps control department expenses by monitoring and improving operations, ensuring labor goals are met, and reducing losses due to shrink
  • Responds to customer complaints and questions in an efficient and courteous manner
  • Provides effective counseling on prescription related issues (i.e., adverse drug reactions, patients history which might bear on the prescribing decision, proper storage of medications, patient questions on medications, etc.)
  • Identifies areas to improve customer service and collaborates with pharmacy manager to correct any deficiencies
  • Helps manager maintain a safe, clean department through an effective housekeeping program to meet company, health department and OSHA standards
  • Maintains appropriate department records and files on important matters, which may include associate performance and discipline, sales plans, etc.
  • Submits required pharmacy reports which document department activities
  • Ensures smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and superiors
  • Responsible to continuously improve job performance
