About The Position

The Floater Pharmacist packages and dispenses prescribed drugs in a clinical environment and handles incoming physician calls, logs data into the computer, performs Rx workflow processing, and conducts drug utilization reviews. The position will be based at the Avita Pharmacy located in Bellaire, TX (6800 W. Loop S.) and will provide coverage as needed at additional locations throughout the state of Texas. This role involves managing pharmacy operations and maintaining the highest quality of pharmaceutical care and services while filling in for the PIC. Responsibilities include properly dispensing, ordering, and maintaining inventory of drugs and supplies, directing pharmacy staff workflow, collaborating with physicians on prescription incompatibilities, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, and staying updated on pharmacy regulations. The role also requires consulting with clinic providers, maintaining patient confidentiality per HIPAA, upholding a clean and customer-friendly workplace, and performing duties in accordance with company policies and values. Travel reimbursement is provided for travel outside the primary work location. Additional TX locations for coverage include Dallas, Beaumont, Abilene, McAllen, Harlingen, and Brownsville. Shifts will vary based on locations between Monday - Friday, 8AM - 8PM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Doctoral (PharmD) degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university
  • Pharmacist license in good standing in the State of Texas (TX) required
  • Completion of an ACPE accredited immunization training program
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer skills with the ability to type 30+ wpm
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer-service, managerial, and communication skills
  • Able to efficiently work, mentor, and supervise staff in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Pharmacist license in good standing in the State of Louisiana (LA) is preferred but not required
  • 1+ year of full-time retail or clinic pharmacy experience preferred
  • 340B experience preferred
  • AAHIVP certification preferred
  • Certifications in different areas of Pharmacy a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage pharmacy operations and maintain the highest quality of pharmaceutical care and services while filling in for the PIC
  • Properly dispense, order, and maintain proper inventory of drugs and supplies, pursuant to all state and federal laws
  • Direct activities and workflow efficiency of the pharmacy staff
  • Collaborate with physicians to discuss potential incompatibility issues with patient prescriptions
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of pharmacy
  • Keep abreast of changing laws, regulations, and new pharmacy-related programs
  • Consult with clinic providers, administrators, and other personnel as appropriate
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Uphold a clean, customer-friendly workplace, and always project a professional and positive attitude
  • Perform in accordance with company policies and standards, as well as the spirit of the Company's core values and goals
