About The Position

Alternatives, Inc. is seeking a Full-time Floater Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver to support adults with developmental disabilities in Somerset County. Program sites are located in Raritan, Somerset, Hillsborough, and South Bound Brook. The role involves supporting individuals to live with dignity and respect, enabling them to reach their highest level of independence and integration into the community. Alternatives, Inc. has been providing support services for over 40 years and has expanded its coverage area to include multiple counties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record
• Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and a drug screen
• Clear tuberculosis (TB) screening
• Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support training
• Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as administering medication, cooking meals, performing personal hygiene, and transportation to medical appointments.
• Assist in the implementation of individual behavioral plans.
• Teach new skills and help clients achieve goals using effective teaching and mentoring techniques.
• Encourage client interests and drive them to community outings and recreational activities based on individual preferences and behavioral plans.
• Report any concerns about client health and safety.
• Keep documentation accurate and up-to-date.
• Work all scheduled shifts at all programs within the region, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights, and weekend shifts.
