About The Position

Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are an extremely important role in our company as they work directly with our individuals, ensuring they can lead their best lives and can be successful in both our Residential and Vocational settings. The Floater DSP reports to a Vocational Manager and the role has advancement opportunities to increase responsibilities and pay. A Floater DSP is responsible for providing direct support coverage across multiple ICES Inc. Vocational Program locations, including Trumbull, Naugatuck, and Waterbury, based on program needs. The Floater DSP adapts to different teams, routines, schedules, and participant support needs across locations.

Requirements

  • DDS Med Certification (within first 6 months of employment)
  • CPR
  • PMT
  • Human Rights and Neglect
  • Attendance at Mandatory Staff Meetings
  • Knowledge and understanding of Intellectual Developmental Disabilities
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license to travel between assigned program locations as needed.
  • Maintain flexibility with scheduling and work assignments, as work locations may be assigned at the beginning of a shift-based on program needs.
  • Must be able to successfully demonstrate and use smartphone, tablets, and computers

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the needs of the individuals are met consistently and in accordance with the individuals’ plan so they can live their best lives. This includes but is not limited to medical / behavioral appointments, job skills /vocational needs, daily living skills, financial, transportation, etc.
  • Work with a variety of individuals based on operational and staffing needs.
  • Maintain and update individuals’ plans as needed in accordance with state and agency requirements
  • Responsible for daily housekeeping tasks and daily upkeep of the individual’s home and/ or work environment
  • Provide safe transportation of individual(s).
  • Ensure agency vehicles are maintained and required documentation is completed timely
  • Administer medication and implement delegated responsibilities ordered by licensed medical personnel (Med Certification Required)
  • Demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to adapt quickly to different environments, participant needs, staffing assignments, and daily routine
  • Communicate regularly to management team on individual’s performance, successes, and issue
  • Communicate with management and supervisory staff regarding coverage, schedule changes, or concern
  • Actively participate on the Interdisciplinary Team which is focused on development and implementation of the Individual Plan for the individuals entrusted to our care
  • Partner with other DSPs and administrative team members to share expertise and insights
  • Identify and participate in projects / initiatives that contribute to long-term excellence and individuals’ growth
  • Develop understanding of the workings of each department that interact with individuals
