Float Registered Nurse Inpatient-Delnor Resource Team Full Time Nights
About The Position
Northwestern Medicine is seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical registered nurse for its Delnor Resource Team. The Float Registered Nurse Inpatient provides professional nursing care to acutely ill patients using the nursing process, and follows the organization’s mission, values, policies, ethics, compliance requirements, and applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. This role is scheduled for three 12-hour night shifts per week, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with every third weekend (Friday and Saturday nights) and rotating holidays throughout the year. The position is eligible for float, shift, and weekend differentials. It is listed as 36 hours per week and 0.9 FTE.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
- Basic Life Support.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with others.
- Strong analytic abilities.

Responsibilities
- Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care for acutely ill patients through assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
- Interact effectively with patients, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.
- Collect and analyze data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement individualized plans, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate progress.
- Direct care and determine the appropriate utilization of assistants involved in direct patient care.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff, and document plans and communications related to care and service delivery.
- Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
- Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record and individualize the plan of care based on evaluation findings.
- Use the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions.
