About The Position

The Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) is a skilled, flexible professional responsible for delivering high-quality patient care across multiple hospital units and locations in alignment with their scope of practice. The Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) must be adaptable and able to provide standardized nursing care across a minimum of two units or two locations and will be scheduled based on patient census and acuity. The Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, accreditation standards, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

Requirements

  • Graduate from NLN School of nursing.
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi.
  • Complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
  • Complete de-escalation training by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of inpatient clinical experience required.
  • Experience must be within the past five (5) years, or evidence of successful refresher program.
  • Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
  • Must be willing to work a minimum of two (2) hospital locations or two (2) service lines to include all units in that service line.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS certification for Cath Lab, Cardiac Rehab, Congestive Heart Failure, Cardiovascular Surgery, Intensive Care Units, Labor & Delivery, PACU/Recovery.
  • PALS certification for Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics, PACU/Recovery.
  • TNCC certification for Emergency Department.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation) certification for Labor & Delivery, Nursery.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality patient care across multiple hospital units and locations.
  • Provide standardized nursing care across a minimum of two units or two locations.
  • Be scheduled based on patient census and acuity.
  • Utilize the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, accreditation standards, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
  • Work a minimum of two hospital locations or two service lines to include all units in that service line.
  • Work one weekend shift per pay period (defined as Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) for part-time.
  • Work a minimum of one major holiday and two hard to staff shifts annually for part-time.
  • Work at least two weekend shifts per pay period (defined as Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) for full-time.
  • Work a minimum of one major holiday and two hard to staff shifts or two major holidays and one hard to staff shift for full-time.
