The Clinical Nurse for the Mount Sinai nursing float pool is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients on a variety of assigned units. The role involves delivering patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care and through the application of the nursing process based upon theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. This includes assessing and evaluating patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills, integrating assessment and intervention skills, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The nurse will prioritize patient care, educate patients and caregivers, communicate effectively, and manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing. The role also emphasizes patient experience through various patient-centered actions, considering patient values and preferences, and initiating service recovery. Quality and safety are paramount, requiring the nurse to practice safe and efficient patient-centered care, implement process improvement strategies, engage in peer review, and contribute to quality improvement projects. The nurse will also perform charge nurse duties, coordinate with leadership for resource management, document accurately, and facilitate patient throughput. Professional development is encouraged through advancing clinical competence, projecting a professional image, incorporating ethical principles, and engaging in lifelong learning. The nurse will participate in shared decision-making, serve as a role model and preceptor, and contribute to the nursing profession.
