About The Position

This position is dual support for both Philadelphia and King of Prussia campuses. Candidates are required to have two (2) recent years of pediatric inpatient ICU experience (NICU/PICU/CICU). The Clinical Nurse Float Pool I is a clinically competent practitioner of pediatric, family-centered nursing. The nurse, at this level, provides safe nursing care to the general unit population ICU, Medical, Surgical, and at least 1 specialty area as defined in Supplemental Staffing Nursing Policy, with minimal guidance and bases practice on identified principles and standards of care.

Requirements

Technical Diploma Nursing - Required
At least two (2) years Inpatient Pediatric Nursing Experience - Required
Basic Use of MS Word. (Required proficiency)
Creating meeting minutes, charts, and tables. (Required proficiency)
Saving and naming new and established files. (Required proficiency)
Basic Use of MS PowerPoint. (Required proficiency)
Creating education presentations using clip art. (Required proficiency)
Basic Use of MS Excel. (Required proficiency)
Creating simple spreadsheets, sometimes using symbols. (Required proficiency)
Navigation and basic search functions of the Internet using Internet Explorer. (Required proficiency)
Use of MS Outlook email, opening attachments, attaching new files to emails, and saving attached files to computer. (Required proficiency)
Use of shared network file space. (Required proficiency)
Basic use of computers, printers, monitors, patient care devices, and fax machines. (Required proficiency)
Navigation and use of Sortec Nurse Call system. (Required proficiency)
Use of Internet and Intranet to look up basic electronic resources for practice. (Required proficiency)
Ability to find and print Patient Family Education Documents. (Required proficiency)
Ability to find PPM Department Council minutes from last month. (Required proficiency)
Ability to find and navigate Department of Nursing websites and related linked CHOP resource sites. (Required proficiency)
Ability to perform a literature search on the Internet and ability to find professional journal and/or research-based articles. (Required proficiency)
Ability to evaluate Internet sites for reliability. (Required proficiency)
Navigation of electronic health information records (Required proficiency)
Ability to review specific patient data in a clinical information system. (Required proficiency)

Responsibilities

Follows Nursing Process to deliver safe care: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Synthesizes patient assessment data and recognizes complex situations prior to communicating with care team.
Collaborates with family, team members, and other caregivers to initiate/update plan of care, patient/family education, and discharge needs.
Manages care of complex patients utilizing proper prioritization and delegation to appropriate staff.
Identifies expected outcomes, revises plan of care when unexpected outcomes arise, and begins to use full range of communication as a means of conveying plan.
Documents ongoing evaluation and effectiveness of patient care utilizing current hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
