The Float Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting and processing laboratory specimens at Patient Service Centers in the Springfield Region. This PRN/Pool position offers "as needed" availability, primarily during day shifts (Monday-Friday, 1:00 PM-5:30 PM), with Saturday availability required. The role involves ensuring accurate specimen collection across all age groups, handling various specimen types including urine drug screens and PCR nasopharyngeal swabs, and performing POCT testing. Key responsibilities include accurate requisition completion, proper patient identification and specimen handling, labeling, and preparation for testing. The phlebotomist will also manage billing information, process and store specimens according to protocol, utilize Sunquest 8.1 for specimen receipt and decant, and maintain appropriate specimen storage. They will manage order and specimen flow, assist in troubleshooting, operate and maintain equipment, and communicate effectively with customers. Inventory management, supply replenishment, and assisting in training new staff are also part of the role. Adherence to regulatory requirements, corporate standards, and departmental policies is essential, along with performing other requested job duties.
