Emory Healthcare is seeking a capable Float Nursing Manager for the Internal Travel Team. This role directs all aspects of management and ensures the provision of optimum patient care for a nursing unit. The Float Nurse Manager provides leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, procedures, strategies, and services on a temporary basis to support units in the absence of their permanent leaders. This role requires adaptability and the ability to manage different teams in various settings, stepping in as needed to support clinical staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and address patient care needs in different areas of the healthcare organization. The position involves preparing and submitting department budgets, monitoring expenditures, directing resource allocation, supervising nursing staff, and developing/implementing quality improvement initiatives. The manager ensures staff competence, compliance with regulations, and develops departmental goals. They establish and communicate policies, monitor compliance with standards, prepare staffing plans, and manage staffing issues. The role also involves monitoring patient care, initiating quality improvement procedures, directing patient placement, and coordinating nursing care practices. The Float Nurse Manager works with their direct leader on professional development, attends educational sessions, and participates in professional activities. They maintain departmental records, use information systems, and ensure the confidentiality of information. Active participation in committees and task forces is expected, as is directing the development of priority competencies for staff. Support for clinical research and participation in studies to improve performance are also part of the role. Other related duties may be required.
