About The Position

CorrHealth is seeking Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPNs/LVNs) for full-time, permanent positions involving weekly travel to various facilities within Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Wyoming. This role requires flexible availability for both day and night shifts, seven days a week. The LPN will assist in delivering inmate healthcare through the nursing process, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This is not a temporary or contract travel role, but a permanent position requiring a minimum of 36-48 hours weekly.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited LPN/LVN program.
  • Current and unrestricted compact license as LPN/LVN; must maintain license.
  • Must be willing to travel weekly.
  • Must have flexible availability for days and nights, seven days a week.
  • Must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, and licensing.
  • Must have current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Must have current TB test (taken within one year).
  • Must be willing to follow facility-specific policies and procedures.
  • Must be willing to assist coworkers and work overtime if required.
  • Must undergo security training and orientation.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Compact License required / must reside in a state listed above (CO, NM, TX, WY)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the assessment of the physical, psychological, and social dimensions of inmates.
  • Plan and implement individual treatment programs, including inmate teaching.
  • Administer medications via approved routes, including IV therapy if certified.
  • Assist providers with evaluations, medical procedures, and minor surgical procedures.
  • Obtain body fluid specimens and perform EKGs.
  • Maintain and document controlled substances and medical equipment.
  • Intervene in various situations using proper safety techniques and standard precautions.
  • Implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans.
  • Perform triaging and assessment of healthcare requests.
  • Travel weekly to designated CorrHealth facilities in NM, TX, WY, and CO.
  • Assist coworkers in job duties and work overtime if required.
  • Maintain confidentiality, dignity, and security of health records in compliance with HIPAA.
