About The Position

Raytheon Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) is seeking a Flight Test Systems Engineer to join our Flight Test Operations (FTO) team in supporting our Raytheon Multi-program Testbed (RMT – Experimental B727) and Next Generation Testbed (NGT – Experimental B737-800). This position can be based under FTO at our R27 hangar in Ontario, CA or our Engineering campus in El Segundo, CA and may include occasional travel to Tucson, AZ. This role supports flight test systems and modification engineering for RTX flight test programs and works closely with FTO and program technical leads. This role is also responsible for supporting aircraft systems integration and resolving technical challenges to enable successful flight test execution. This position supports the FTO Chief Engineer and Lead Systems Engineer in daily contact with multiple functions to complete technical tasks. This position also participates in engineering working groups, technical presentations, progress updates, and meeting. This is an onsite role located in either El Segundo, CA or Ontario, CA.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Decomposing specifications to system performance, interface, I&T, and V&V requirements.
  • Experience with Integration and Test procedures, troubleshooting lab and system/software/hardware stability issues, and developing solutions to resolve technical issues.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with lab or flight test integration and system troubleshooting.
  • Proven technical competence.
  • Expertise in flight flight test systems design, integration, test, verification and validation, and Special Test Equipment.
  • Aviation experience.
  • Top Secret Security Clearance and experience working classified SAP programs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure successful integration and testing of system payloads to meet customer flight test schedule requirements.
  • Collaborate with design and program engineering teams to meet customer flight test requirements.
  • Develop systems requirements and unit test procedures.
  • Develop technical documentation, installation, and removal of flight test systems on FTO test aircraft.
  • Update configuration lists and integration support procedures for aircraft modification and systems integration.
  • Support Integration efforts with aircraft maintenance, engineering, and operations activities to meet RTX flight test program objectives and customer flight test schedules.
