About The Position

BAE Systems is looking for a motivated Flight Test Engineering Manager to join the Force Development Evaluation (FDE) team for an exciting opportunity supporting the United States Air Force Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system program. The FDE team supports Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) and Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) to monitor and assess the current performance and accuracy of the Minuteman III (MMIII) ICBM. The team supports Operational Test Launch activities such as pre-flight mission planning, launch support, post-flight performance and accuracy analysis, and development of accuracy nuclear planning factors. The team also leverages its expertise to support assessment efforts for the upcoming Sentinel ICBM. This role offers a unique opportunity to support and participate in an active test launch program with a team of subject matter experts. The Flight Test Engineering Manager will manage a small team of junior engineers, to include establishing individual goals in alignment with team objectives, providing timesheet oversight, and communicating guidance and performance feedback to direct reports. They will also perform or supervise some of the following FDE technical tasks: Supporting Operational Test Launch pre-launch and launch activities. Performing pre-flight mission planning tasks that include defining test objectives and range sensor requirements, targeting the mission, analyzing hazards and range safety constraints, and producing 6DOF flight predictions. Processing Booster and Reentry Vehicle telemetry data. Performing Missile System, Reentry Vehicle Body Dynamics, and Arming & Fuzing performance analysis. Determining the Reentry Vehicle Best Estimate of Trajectory using metric tracking and weather data and using the Best Estimate of Trajectory to determine weapon system miss and all sub-component misses. Performing Inertial Measurement Unit accuracy analysis using GPS/telemetry data to estimate guidance and control contribution to weapon system miss. Developing engineering estimates of accuracy, maintaining physics-based engineering models, and performing statistical analysis. Providing engineering support to investigate missile flight test anomalies, performing analysis to determine cause, and developing corrective action solutions. Developing, maintaining, and modifying software tools to determine vehicle performance and flight accuracy. Publishing vehicle performance and flight accuracy briefing materials and reports. The position is located at Hill AFB, Utah. US citizenship status and DoD Secret Security Clearance are required. Due to work within a classified environment, this role is not conducive to teleworking or remote schedules. Position level will be based on candidate experience and qualifications.
