About The Position

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal / Senior Principal Flight Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This position will be supporting one or more aircraft platforms and will be located at Edwards AFB, CA. The candidate will develop and publish Integrated Test Plans, detailed test plans, test schedules, and test procedures for developmental testing. They will provide laboratory support for integration testing and support/host test planning working groups. The role involves interfacing with test article design and analysis teams to define test configuration and data requirements, and reviewing and evaluating test requirements to ensure completeness of the test program. The engineer will perform technical analysis of complete systems and prepare comprehensive system-level evaluations. This position requires the individual to obtain and maintain control room qualification. Responsibilities include supporting test card development and review in collaboration with other engineering disciplines and test operations personnel, supporting test readiness reviews, and pre/post-test briefings. The role also involves providing mission control room support and making real-time decisions regarding safety, efficiency, and effectiveness. The candidate will lead readiness efforts and program scheduling impact assessments, and conduct and contribute to pre and post-test data analyses to support anomaly identification and resolution, maintaining metrics on testing status and constraints. This position requires outstanding written and oral communications skills. The individual will serve as a principal subject matter focal point between maintenance, design engineering, and the test site team (contractor and customer). The individual must be able to work under general direction to determine and develop approaches to solutions, work both within a team environment and independently, be self-motivated, thorough, and detailed, and be willing to learn additional engineering discipline areas. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Integrated Analysis & Data System (IADS) is required. Overtime, odd shifts, and weekend work will occasionally be required. The selected candidate will work a 9x80 schedule with the ability to change to alternate shifts based on program requirements.

Requirements

  • A Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM Degree).
  • A minimum of 5 years of applicable experience with a BS Degree or 3 years with a MS degree in STEM Field (for Principal level).
  • A minimum of 9 years of applicable experience with a BS Degree or 7 years with a MS degree in STEM Field (for Sr. Principal level).
  • This position requires a DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance as well as the ability to obtain and maintain a Special Program Access clearance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Integrated Analysis & Data System (IADS).
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills.
