About The Position

Support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and potentially other Department of War (DoW) customers in the development, test, and evaluation of flight vehicles as part of the Flight Test Analysis Team. Apply engineering rigor to support customer systems engineering teams across flight vehicle design, analysis, and testing, including requirements development and assessment, modeling and simulation, test analysis, and reporting. Use knowledge of flight vehicle physical, kinematic, and signature characteristics to support engineering activities and data product development. Technical focus areas include guidance, navigation and control (GNC), modeling and simulation (M&S), trajectory analysis, telemetry systems, signatures, and vehicle performance assessments. Generate and analyze 6-DoF and 3-DoF flight vehicle trajectory data using industry-standard tools such as TAOS and STK, as well as internally developed tools such as MATLAB, Python, and C++. Support flight test analysis and reporting by analyzing onboard instrumentation data, processing telemetry, developing trajectory reconstructions, and generating performance reports. Collaborate with experts across multiple technical areas to develop analysis and engineering tools. Travel up to 25%. The requisition is open at Engineer I through Engineer IV levels. Candidates are placed at a level matching their education and experience. Engineer I is entry level; Engineer II is mid level; Engineer III is senior level; and Engineer IV is expert level.

Requirements

  • Meet the education and experience criteria for at least one Engineer level: Engineer I requires a bachelor's degree in a STEM field and no experience; Engineer II requires a bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 3+ years working on missile defense-related or other DoW programs/projects; Engineer III requires a bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 7+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoW programs/projects; Engineer IV requires a master's degree in a STEM field and 12+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoW programs/projects.
  • Active Secret security clearance; US citizenship is required for the clearance.
  • Specialization in at least one Flight Test Analysis Team technical discipline: aerodynamics, equations of motion, coordinate systems, vehicle dynamics, or GNC; flight vehicle trajectory analysis; modeling and simulation; telemetry systems, flight test instrumentation, or Link Margin Analysis; radar cross section, optical, or plume attenuation signatures; debris laydown analysis; flight vehicle design and CAD; wargaming or campaign analysis using AFSIM or similar DoW simulations; or flight test data analysis, trajectory reconstruction, and performance reporting.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, C++, Java, C#, and/or other programming languages.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Engineer I applies engineering rigor to analyze and resolve problems with supervision; Engineer II applies engineering rigor to analyze and resolve problems; Engineer III works independently and/or leads subteams; Engineer IV works independently, as a team member, or leads teams/tasks to solve engineering and scientific problems.
