About The Position

Leidos’ Defense Systems is seeking a Flight Termination Engineer Lead for its Hypersonics line of business. The selected candidate will support the Common Hypersonic Glide Body program (CHGB). The CHGB is the Army’s #1 priority for strategic weapons capability for long-range precision fires and will counter and gain a lead on our adversaries' technological advances in this field. Requirements

  • A BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • 8+ years of relevant experience (or 12+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree) or a MS in Electrical Engineering and 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Must be capable of reading engineering drawings, electrical schematics, cable/wiring diagrams, and the corresponding work instructions to produce complex assemblies and provide valuable feedback to program leadership
  • Provide rapid integration and troubleshooting support for system-level integration
  • Experience in electronics integration, test, and troubleshooting
  • Experience in environmental testing of avionics
  • Experience in writing qualification plans to meet RCC-319 and RCC-324 requirements
  • Experience with risk, issues, and/or opportunity management
  • Knowledge of test procedure development
  • Knowledge of circuit design – analog, digital, power
  • Organizational skills to document designs, assist with Technical Data Packages (TDP) and support production and test of the avionics
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating within a team environment, which will include the government customer, industry partners, test, and manufacturing engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • Experience with manufacturing and production of avionics components
  • Familiarity with instrumentation, test equipment, and test methods including the use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, etc.
  • Knowledge of post test data processing
  • Knowledge of test development to support troubleshooting hardware failures
  • Experience in a MIL-STD-810 Test Environment
  • Knowledge of ASME and IEEE standards
  • Experience supporting DoD programs related to missile systems, reentry vehicles, or hypersonic technologies
  • Prior work in assembly, integration, or testing of missile systems.
  • Experience supporting rapid development, prototyping, or fast-paced engineering programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Responsible Engineer and IPT Lead for the Flight Termination System
  • Lead technical reviews, failure investigations, supplier engagements, and cross-functional task teams
  • Assist in requirement decomposition
  • Interface with the Range Commanders Council
  • Conduct non-conformance and root cause corrective action investigations
