About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a Flight Software Engineer (Experienced/Senior) to support their Flight Software Team in El Segundo, CA or Mountain View, CA. This role is within the Boeing Defense Services (BDS) business organization and focuses on the design, development, and implementation of software for space programs. The position requires demonstrated experience in the software ecosystem, a diverse project background, and strong judgment and decision-making skills for engineering new solutions and supporting existing capabilities. Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills are essential.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree
Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security Clearance post-start for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
5+ years of experience in software development using languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python
5+ years of experience designing and developing software for a real-time or non-real-time system
Must work well in a team environment
Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements (U.S. Person status required)

Nice To Haves

9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Level 4)
Experience with the full software development lifecycle that includes requirements analysis through Formal Qualification
Experience using team collaboration tools including GitLab, Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence
Experience in embedded real-time software development
Experience with Wireshark or other network analysis tools and Debuggers
Experience automating software builds, unit tests, and integration tests using a DevOps tool chain

Responsibilities

Design, Integrate, modify, test, and debug software for embedded devices and systems, meeting industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards.
Review, analyze, and translate customer requirements for software products for embedded devices and systems.
Build and write code for embedded systems software to run on specific specialized hardware.
Integrate embedded software with hardware components.
Analyze, monitor, and improve the efficiency and stability of embedded software systems.
Test and debug software for embedded devices and systems.
Drive software execution to deliver products on-cost and on-schedule.
Responsible for satellite and payload software safety, assurance, quality, and engineering excellence.
Produce design and test documentation and artifacts.
Conduct Cyber Vulnerability Analysis (CVA) for multiple processing platforms within the satellite vehicle architecture.
Design and implement cyber monitoring algorithms.
Design and write custom tools to support configuration automation and improve development workflow.
Work and interface with a technically diverse user community and a multi-disciplined integrated product team (systems and software).
Lead the design, integration, modification, test, and debugging of software for embedded devices and systems (P4 level).
Lead review, analyses, and translation of customer requirements for software products for embedded devices and systems (P4 level).
Review code for embedded systems software to run on specific specialized hardware (P4 level).
Lead integration of embedded software with hardware components (P4 level).
Lead analyses, monitoring, and improvement of the efficiency and stability of embedded software systems (P4 level).
Lead testing and debugging of software for embedded devices and systems (P4 level).
Advise on software and hardware integration domains (P4 level).
Lead tracking and evaluation of internal and supplier software team performance to ensure product and process compliance (P4 level).
Lead software project management functions (P4 level).
Produce and deliver design and test documentation and artifacts including program CDRLs (P4 level).
Design and write custom tools and processes to support configuration automation and improve development workflow (P4 level).
Interface with product stakeholders including software and hardware development teams, Systems Engineering, Product Security Engineering, and Testbed Engineering (P4 level).
