About The Position

Near Earth Autonomy is seeking a motivated engineer with a strong flight software background to help advance safe autonomous flight. The role involves work across the full software product lifecycle, including design, development, verification, and deployment. The engineer will develop flight software components for autonomous flight and work with a team to deliver systems that meet customer requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent discipline and 5+ years of related experience.
Experience developing and deploying software for embedded systems.
Working knowledge of C and/or C++.
Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
Skill in writing tests and designing for testability.
Strong communication skills.
Experience with Linux.
Position is restricted to US persons.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience with software development and verification per DO-178C or similarly rigorous processes.
Experience developing software for real-time operating systems.
Experience developing flight software.
Experience developing and testing mobile robots, especially UAS.
Experience using Formal Methods for logic verification of software.
Experience building production-scale applications through at least one full development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Design and develop flight software components for varied needs and domains that enable autonomous flight.
Design, implement, and test software according to aerospace industry standards, including DO-178C.
Participate in contextualizing software development within ARP4754B, ARP4761A, and related standards.
Participate in and conduct design and code reviews.
Develop and use software verification tools.
Implement and maintain software development and configuration-control best practices to reliably deliver software.
Work with a team of engineers to produce software systems that meet customer requirements.
