About The Position

Rendezvous Robotics is developing a solution to the fundamental bottleneck in spacecraft construction: the limited size of rocket fairings. They are creating modular spacecraft components called electromagnetic self-assembling tiles that can rendezvous, dock, and latch together to form larger and more powerful spacecraft than currently possible. The company is a small team based in Golden, Colorado, with a clear plan to move from flight demonstration to operational systems. Their work encompasses hardware, software, and systems engineering. They are seeking highly skilled individuals to contribute to the next generation of advanced spacecraft.

Requirements

  • Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong C++ and/or C, with a deep understanding of software execution on hardware.
  • Experience with Embedded Linux, including building, configuring, and debugging on resource-constrained systems.
  • Comfort with lower-level software, including device drivers, serial buses (UART, SPI, I2C), and interpreting datasheets.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with component-based flight software frameworks like F Prime, or other robotics and aerospace middleware.
  • Experience with microcontroller firmware (STM32 or similar), real-time control, and RTOS or bare-metal development.
  • Familiarity with OS image build systems (Yocto, Buildroot) and provisioning or flashing pipelines.
  • Experience with real-time scheduling, CPU pinning, and latency tuning.
  • Proficiency with CMake, CI for embedded targets, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Responsibilities

  • Developing the flight software platform that supports the rest of the software stack, including the component framework, real-time scheduling, and subsystem integration.
  • Creating hardware abstraction layers to enable board-agnostic software development.
  • Managing the real-time Linux environment for the vehicles, including image build pipelines, provisioning, device identity, process supervision, and health/update services.
  • Developing firmware close to the hardware for deterministic control of sensors and actuators, and managing serial protocols to the main compute.
  • Building, testing, and implementing CI for flight software, and integrating new boards into the software stack with the avionics team.
