About The Position

The Structural Engineering Scientist is responsible for technical solutions for the multi-discipline Flight Sciences team (aerodynamics, structural dynamics, structural analysis, durability and damage tolerance analysis, mass properties analysis) for special mission modifications to commercial aircraft. You will provide program-level guidance on showing compliance with FAA airworthiness regulations related to loads, structure, and weight & balance. You will work with program leadership and external engineering teams to coordinate the required engineering analysis and testing. This position can sit in Greenville, TX, Rockwall, TX, or Plano, TX. This is a 100% onsite role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of experience in aerodynamics, structural dynamics, structural analysis, or durability and damage tolerance analysis in modifying fixed-wing manned aircraft.
  • Graduate Degree with 10 years of experience in aerodynamics, structural dynamics, structural analysis, or durability and damage tolerance analysis in modifying fixed-wing manned aircraft.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of experience in aerodynamics, structural dynamics, structural analysis, or durability and damage tolerance analysis in modifying fixed-wing manned aircraft.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience leading a team of engineers.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with MSC Nastran, Femap, NX, and Teamcenter.
  • Experience with Flight Testing.

Responsibilities

  • Support and review engineering bids and ROMs.
  • Perform engineering work in one of the Flight Sciences disciplines up to their current job level to assist as needed.
  • Lead Flight Sciences engineers to manage their scope, budget, and schedule performance.
  • Mentor Flight Sciences engineers to develop their technical and leadership skills.
  • Guide engineers in creating innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.
  • Work with airworthiness authorities to optimize program certification approaches.
  • Provide input on program plans and program schedules.
  • Communication of programs flow down information to Flight Sciences.
  • Review monthly labor forecasts and identify program staffing needs to ASE managers.
  • Influence and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders outside of Flight Sciences.
  • Good computer skills including working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5%.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
