The Flight Paramedic is responsible for providing medical care and rapid transport to critically ill or injured patients within the air medical environment. This role involves learning and maintaining competency in advanced skills pertinent to flight paramedic practice, adhering to flight program protocols, and demonstrating the ability to provide care and treatment based on department protocols and industry standards. The paramedic operates in an elevated risk environment (helicopters) and is expected to collaborate with aviation staff (pilots and mechanics) and the Cox Air Care Medical Director (physician) to reduce risk and promote safe practices. Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved paramedic program
  • Minimum of 3 years Advanced Life Support (ALS) experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates effective leadership abilities
  • Exhibits valuable time management skills
  • Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
  • Current Missouri EMT-P licensure or E.M.T. - CP with Community Paramedicine Endorsement

Nice To Haves

  • CCEMT-P certified
  • Previous flight paramedic experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care and rapid transport to critically ill or injured patients in the air medical environment.
  • Learn and maintain competency in advanced skills pertinent to practice as a flight paramedic and in conjunction with flight program protocols.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide care and treatment to the air medical patient based upon department protocols and industry standards.
  • Provide patient care in an elevated risk environment (helicopters).

  • Function collaboratively with aviation staff (pilots and mechanics) and the Cox Air Care Medical Director (physician).
