About The Position

STARS is seeking an Air Medical Crew - Flight Paramedic for their Regina base within the Clinical department. As a member of the STARS Air Medical Crew (AMC), you will be part of an elite healthcare team providing lifesaving care to critically ill and injured individuals. The AMC team undergoes over 100 hours of advanced clinical training annually to maintain sharp skills and deliver the highest standards of care. STARS provides advanced care, including rapid response, assessment, intervention, and safe transport of patients via helicopter, fixed-wing aircraft, or ground ambulance, 24/7. Each mission involves a Registered Nurse and Registered Paramedic, supported by a Transport Physician, to provide critical care. The AMC operates within the Scope of Practice defined by the STARS Medical Director and accepted by the medical community and regulatory bodies. Responsibilities may also include participating in fundraising and public relations activities, and other assigned projects.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of extensive experience in advanced care in a critical care environment.
  • Current Registered Advanced Care Paramedic.
  • Licensed in the Province that you will be stationed.
  • Valid CPR certificate.
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office applications supplemented by ability to utilize data base(s) as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an air medical environment is an asset.
  • Current certification of STARS Advanced Skills Institute (ASI) and education requirements in good standing (for internal applicants) or equivalent certifications including ACLS, ITLS and PALS.
  • Instructor or coordinator status in ACLS, ITLS, and PALS is an asset.
  • Graduate of the STARS Critical Care and Transport Medicine Academy is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide rapid response, assessment, intervention, and safe transport of critically ill or injured patients from the scene of an accident or during inter-facility transfers.
  • Respond to missions typically by helicopter, but also by fixed-wing aircraft or ground ambulance as needed.
  • Provide critical care for patients in need, working as part of a Registered Nurse and Registered Paramedic team, supported by a Transport Physician.
  • Perform within the Scope of Practice as set out by the STARS Medical Director and accepted by the Medical Community and professional regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in fundraising and public relations activities as required.
  • May be assigned a variety of projects and tasks in addition to the responsibilities of an AMC.
