About The Position

Responsible for delivery of quality care for critically ill or injured in the air medical or ground transportation environment without supervision. Highly skilled in airway management, the most important skill in managing the pediatric specialty population, as this is the most prevalent type of pediatric patient moved, and the highest number of our requested transports. Responsible for the implementation, coordination, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures found in Covenant Health System policy and procedure manuals. Maintains a responsible attitude toward appropriate and efficient management of medical operations within the scope of services of the Specialty Transport Program. Flight Paramedic must be able to interact with physicians and alternative healthcare facilities. The Flight Paramedic must be highly motivated and able to care for patients using assessment skills and written standards when physician contact is not possible. This role will also be responsible for participating in advanced medical treatment modalities as directed by Medical Director and Coordinator of Specialty Transport. Requirements

  • Successful completion and maintenance of Department of State Health Services or National Registry approved Paramedic training program/certification/license.
  • Upon hire: Texas Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic License - Texas Office of EMS-Trauma Systems, Or Upon hire: Texas Paramedic License - Texas Office of EMS-Trauma Systems
  • Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
  • Upon hire: National Provider ACLS - American Heart Association
  • Upon hire: National Provider PALS - American Heart Association
  • Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request.
  • 5 years recent experience as EMT-P with an active 911 service of flight service.

Nice To Haves

  • Upon hire: NREMT-P, or NRP
  • Upon hire: BTLS or PHTLS provider certification
  • Within 6 months of hire: New Mexico Paramedic Certification
  • Within 2 years of hire: FP-C and / or CNPT Certification
  • 3 years experience in flight medicine
