About The Position

A paramedic is responsible for providing medical care and rapid transport to critically ill or injured patients in the air medical environment. This role involves learning and maintaining competency in advanced skills pertinent to practice as a flight paramedic, in conjunction with flight program protocols. The paramedic demonstrates the ability to provide care and treatment to air medical patients based upon department protocols and industry standards. This position also involves providing patient care in an elevated risk environment (helicopters) and collaborating to reduce risk and promote safe practices. The Flight Paramedic functions collaboratively with aviation staff (pilots and mechanics) and the Cox Air Care Medical Director (physician). Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved paramedic program
  • Minimum of 3 years Advanced Life Support (ALS) experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates effective leadership abilities
  • Exhibits valuable time management skills
  • Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
  • Current Missouri EMT-P licensure or E.M.T. - CP with Community Paramedicine Endorsement

Nice To Haves

  • CCEMT-P certified
  • Previous flight paramedic experience
