About The Position

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Flight Operations Engineer to join their team. This role involves working directly with airline customers, airframe manufacturers, and internal teams to develop and maintain operating instructions for in-flight engine operation. The engineer will support issue resolution, coordinate with airframe manufacturers, and evaluate changes to operational procedures. Responsibilities include responding to inquiries, issuing correspondence, conducting meetings to provide engine operational information to pilots and flight operations personnel, performing line rides or flight audits, and supporting the resolution of major aircraft events. The role also requires the ability to create and deliver effective presentations on in-flight procedures and perform engine/aircraft engineering studies.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with 8+ years of engineering experience or 5+ years with an advanced degree.
Private Pilot license is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program.
Ability to travel worldwide (~10%), sometimes on short notice.
Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
Ability to prepare high quality written work.
Ability to verbalize technical concepts effectively.

Nice To Haves

5 years of engine related technical experience including knowledge of large commercial aircraft and engine operation.
Familiar with engine systems and engine performance as well as PW engine models.
Engine performance and operability engineering analysis skills highly recommended.
MS Office skills.
Airline Transport Pilot license is preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Operating Instructions which contain recommendations for in-flight engine operation.
Support resolution of issues related to in-flight engine operation.
Coordinate issues with airframe manufacturer’s Flight Operations groups.
Identify, recommend and evaluate changes to in-flight operational procedures.
Respond to airline customer and airframe manufacturer inquiries regarding in-flight engine operation and issue all-operators correspondence as necessary.
Conduct meetings of various types to provide engine operational information to airline pilots and/or flight operations personnel.
Conduct line rides or flight audits by recording data and observing procedures in the cockpit.
Support resolution of major aircraft events.
Create and deliver effective presentations regarding in-flight procedures of interest to flight crews and other technical personnel.
Perform engine/aircraft engineering studies and report results.
