About The Position

Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As part of the avionics instrumentation team, you will support the design and documentation of ruggedized electronics enclosures and sensor installations for spaceflight hardware. Working alongside senior engineers and designers, you will build your skills in 2D/3D modeling, GD&T, and configuration control while contributing directly to flight hardware. This is a strong entry point for a new engineer with solid CAD fundamentals who wants to grow into avionics packaging and instrumentation design.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
  • Working proficiency with a 3D CAD platform (Creo, SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, or similar), gained through coursework, internships, or personal projects
  • Basic understanding of drafting standards (ASME Y14.5 or equivalent) or demonstrated aptitude to learn quickly
  • 0-2 years of relevant design/engineering experience (internships and academic project work count)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PTC Creo and Windchill specifically
  • Exposure to aerospace materials and finish/treatment specifications
  • Familiarity with harness standards (IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA-STD-8739.4, or AS50881)
  • Coursework or project experience with GD&T
  • Interest or coursework in avionics, instrumentation, or GNC systems

Responsibilities

  • Create and update 2D and 3D models and drawings for electronics enclosures and sensor packages under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Support LRU and sensor/harness installation drawings and specifications
  • Apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 with review and mentorship from senior team members
  • Process drawing releases, revisions, and configuration data within Windchill (PLM)
  • Assist electrical, thermal, and structural engineers with design iterations and trade study documentation
  • Support design reviews by preparing drawing packages and technical documentation
  • Learn and help apply aerospace materials, finishes, and treatment specifications
  • Communicate progress, technical status, and blockers to senior engineers and leads
